Microsoft Adds Bing Image Creator In Bing And Edge To Create Images

Microsoft is including an AI Powered new image creator tool in its Bing search engine. The new tool Bing Image Creator is driven by an “advanced version” of the OpenAI’s DALL∙E model. Bing Image Creator enables the user to create an image by simply describing the picture they want to see using their own words. Users will be able to produce both written and visual content from within chat, all in one place.

Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer, in a blog post, mentions, “We’re excited to announce we are bringing Bing Image Creator, new AI-powered visual Stories and updated Knowledge Cards to the new Bing and Edge preview. Powered by an advanced version of the DALL∙E model from our partners at OpenAI, Bing Image Creator allows you to create an image simply by using your own words to describe the picture you want to see. Now you can generate both written and visual content in one place, from within the chat.”

Also, Microsoft will add the Bing Image Creator to its Edge browser, which is a contender to Google Chrome. There will be a new icon in the Edge sidebar that enables users to create images in the text entry prompt. This image creator will only be available in Bing’s creative mode, according to Microsoft, which plans to optimise how it works in multi-turn chats. “We will initially only include Image Creator in the creative mode of Bing chat, and our intention is to make it available in a balanced and precise mode over time,” says Mehdi.

Users of Bing preview can access the image creator using either Microsoft Edge or the usual chatbot prompt. Users can utilise the Bing Image Creator alternatively at bing.com/create to generate English text-to-image if they are still not a part of the new Bing preview. Microsoft stated that it would gradually add more language support.

Microsoft is making its Stories and Knowledge Cards 2.0 capabilities of Bing available to all users in addition to this new image creator. While Knowledge Cards emphasise essential information, Stories try to give users a more interesting method to search and interact with content, along with providing images and short videos. AI-powered Knowledge Cards 2.0 is an infographic-inspired experience that quickly provides fun facts and important information.

Microsoft bought Nuance in 2021, a company that offers tools for better speech transcription as well as other services that may be used by medical professionals all around the world.

The DAX application, which Nuance developed in 2020 with the intention to help doctors by lessening the paperwork. More than 550,000 Dragon Medical users have used the DAX Express, which provides world-class AI and is now improved by GPT-4 and stepped up by the power of Microsoft Azure.

Google To Add AI Features In Docs, Gmail

Google and Microsoft are vying with one another to embed generative AI as much as possible into their productivity products. Prior to Microsoft’s “Future of Work” presentation, Google unveiled a significant update to Workspace that will integrate its generative AI models into nearly every area of its productivity suite.

Google revealed in a blog post that users would be able to generate text in Gmail and Docs using its own generative AI technology. In the near future, these two applications will be able to rapidly generate content on any particular topic, allowing users to elaborate or modify the text’s tone to meet their requirements, whether they wish to convey a light or professional tone.

The announcement shows Google’s determination to compete with its up-and-coming AI rivals. The search engine giant has been working hard to roll out equivalent AI capabilities in the wake of the launch of ChatGPT the year before and the launch of Microsoft’s chatbot-powered Bing in February. According to reports, the company declared a “code red” in December, asking staff to quickly incorporate AI tools into all of its user-facing products within a few months, which are used by billions of people.

Google has introduced a number of new updates to its Workspace application suite, which consists of Docs, Gmail, Slides, and Sheets. Below is a list of what users can do with these tools, as stated by the company.

Gmail: In Gmail, you may prioritise, summarise, and create a draft for your emails.

Docs: Using Docs, you can brainstorm, edit, write, and rewrite documents together.

Slides: With the help of auto-generated pictures, audio, and video in Slides, you may improve your presentations.

Sheets: Auto-completion, formula generation, and contextual classification in Sheets help to gain an understanding and analyse raw data.

Meet: Use Meet to customise backgrounds and take notes during video calls.

Chat: Chat can be used to improve workflows and streamline communication.

Google has announced that its next updates to Docs and Gmail will contain AI-powered features that create a draft text as soon as you type a few words about the subject you want to write about. Then, with the help of more AI ideas, these documents can be further enhanced and modified.

Cold War For AI Dominance: Microsoft Introduces AI Integrated “Copilot”

Microsoft has introduced artificial intelligence (AI) integrated new chatbot tool called Microsoft 365 Copilot to assist users in writing documents, making presentations, composing emails, and more. The Copilot, powered by GPT-4 from OpenAI, is made for Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Office, Excel, and others.

The release happened soon after Google revealed that it would be integrating AI capabilities into Gmail, Docs, and other Workspace apps.

According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, this technology will radically alter the way we interact with computers and unleash a new surge in productivity. “With our new copilot for work, we are giving people more agency and making technology more accessible through a universal interface – natural language.”

Users of Microsoft 365 will notice the Copilot tool as an assistant in their sidebar. The new tool lets PowerPoint users create presentations and Microsoft Word users make drafts. In addition, excel users can quickly analyze trends and make data visualizations.

The head of Microsoft 365, Jared Spataro, mentioned in a blog post, “It works alongside you, embedded in the apps millions of people use daily: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. Copilot is an entirely new method of working.

While Copilot in Teams will help every meeting be effective by assisting with tasks like summarising key conversation points and proposing action items in real-time during a meeting, Copilot in Outlook can quickly help organise the inbox. According to Microsoft, Copilot on the Power Platform will enable users to automate repetitive tasks, build chatbots, and much more.

Copilot, which acts as a chatbot, can aid offices by handling content-related tasks, but Spataro advises using the tool with caution because it may not always be accurate. “Copilot will sometimes be usefully right, sometimes wrong, but it will always pull you further ahead,” he writes.

The company further revealed that Microsoft 365 Copilot is currently under testing with eight Fortune 500 enterprises. In the coming months, the company will extend these broadly to users.

Gates Visited India To Hold a Discussion With RBI Governor

Microsoft’s co-founder Bill Gates visited the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office in Mumbai on Tuesday and met Governor Shaktikanta Das. The Central Bank tweeted that Gates visited the RBI office and held extensive discussions with Das.

Gates comes to India to explore business opportunities in various sectors, such as education, health, and other fields in India. Last week in his blog, “Gates notes,” he said that India shows the light of hope for the future and proved it could solve major issues at once, even when the world is facing several crises.

In his note, he wrote that he is coming to India next week. Although he had spent a lot of time here over the years—doing various things from checking out toilets to visiting villages. He had visited the home of one of the poorest, most underserved castes in India also.

Moreover, he expressed his interest in conducting trade and other activities in India.

Gates on Monday tweeted that, similar to every other country on the earth, India also has limited resources. But it has shown others how the world can still progress despite that constraint.”

Through his blog, he also praised India’s health initiatives and wrote that India gives him hope for the future. It is about to become the most populous country in the world, which means one can not solve most problems there without solving them at scale. Still, India has proven it can tackle any challenges. The country has successfully eradicated polio, lowered HIV transmission, reduced poverty, reduced infant mortality and increased access to sanitation and financial services.

In addition to his health initiative, he also wants to focus on changing the climate and urges governments and businesses to take rapid action to reduce the effects of climate change. In India, he wants to discuss ways in which the country can accelerate its infection to clean energy and reduce its carbon footprint.

The Gates Foundation has joined hands with the public sector and CGIAR institutions in India to support the work of researchers who are at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).
