Every other week, WhatsApp releases new tools or privacy improvements while frequently developing new features. Therefore, it should not be surprising that the instant messaging service is now developing a new privacy feature within the app itself that will enable users to lock their private chats.
According to WaBetaInfo, now WhatsApp users can secure any particular chat on the application using a face, passcode, or fingerprint lock.
The feature, which is currently in testing, will give an additional layer of privacy and security to WhatsApp by requiring a unique passcode, such as a fingerprint, face lock, or password, to access each locked discussion. No one can access your locked chats until the passcode is mentioned, even if your WhatsApp platform is open and other users surround you.
In addition to protecting text messages, this feature will safeguard shared media assets, audio files, and documents in chats between two people.
According to the report, if someone tries to open one of these restricted chats on WhatsApp and repeatedly fails the authentication procedure, they will need to clear the chat in order to open it.
But, an Android beta version of WhatsApp’s Lock Chat feature is now being tested. The feature will be made available to iOS users whenever it progressively begins to be made available to the whole public.
The Lock Chat function is said to archive locked chats in a different folder, making it easier to find while remaining hidden and out of the way.
The Google Play Store now has the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.2 update available. According to the report, WhatsApp would not automatically save any audio or video files exchanged in encrypted chats to the smartphone’s gallery when the Lock Chat function is active.
