For a long time, Tata Consumer Products has been trying to buy Bisleri, India's leading bottled water brand, for quite some time. Tata had bid for Rs 7000 crores to buy Bisleri, but for some reason, Bisleri's deal could not be done. Following this, Tata has dropped the decision to buy the bottled water brand Bisleri. Now Tata Consumer Products Limited has decided to invest heavily in its own mineral water brand. Tata has mineral water brands like Tata Copper, Tata Gluco, and Himalayan.
Sunil D'Souza, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Consumer Products, has given this information. According to D'Souza, After acquiring Bisleri, their business growth plan would have advanced by three years. However, the idea to purchase Bisleri has not been implemented for some reason. Now they plan to sell their mineral water brands Tata Copper+ and Tata Gluco+ and invest heavily in Himalayan Mineral Water. As a result, the company is planning to expand its business.
Tata Consumer Products has started working on several schemes simultaneously to increase business. Tata Consumer Products is not only betting big on the food and beverage business but is also planning to invest heavily in other categories of the FMCG segment. Tata Consumer Products is a major company in the food and beverage business. 70% of its business comes from India and 30% from abroad.
Bisleri has spurned to hand over its business to the Tata group. Ramesh Chauhan of Bisleri had said that his daughter Jayanti would take over the company's reins, but now a new screw has gotten stuck in this too. Jayanti Chauhan has reportedly declined to step down as head of Bisleri. There are reports of a rift with Jayanti's father, Ramesh Chauhan, due to which Chauhan has announced the new boss of Bisleri Company.
Jayanti will now work with a professional management team at Bisleri headed by Angelo George. Jayanti has been associated with Bisleri's mineral water business from time to time over the years. However, in recent years, they have focussed on the Vedika brand, a part of Bisleri's portfolio.
