The romantic comedy film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, is being devoured by fans who have been craving big-screen versions in recent years. The movie is holding up well even during the weekdays after a strong showing over the lengthy five-day weekend. The film was able to make almost the same amount of money on Tuesday as it did on Monday.
The movie by director Luv Ranjan brought in an additional Rs 6.05 crore (early estimates), bringing the total to almost Rs 83 crore, according to the industry tracker Sacnilk. Film trade critic and analyst Taran Adarsh provided a breakdown of the movie's earnings since its launch on March 8. He tweeted, "#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar collects a decent amount On Monday [Day 6],... However, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, his last popular romantic comedy, had a better opening weekend collection in 2013. Within seven days of its release, it earned Rs 107.61 cr.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar may hit medium if it can keep its hold at the ticket counters for another seven days. After that, it might have competition from this Friday's new releases of Zwigato by Kapil Sharma and Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway by Rani Mukerji. Later this month, the films Bheed by Anubhav Sinha and Bholaa by Ajay Devgn are set for release.
Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is Ranbir Kapoor's next project after Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The actor will appear in a totally different avatar. The movie, which also features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol in significant roles, will be released in theatres on August 11.
