Microsoft is including an AI Powered new image creator tool in its Bing search engine. The new tool Bing Image Creator is driven by an "advanced version" of the OpenAI's DALL∙E model. Bing Image Creator enables the user to create an image by simply describing the picture they want to see using their own words. Users will be able to produce both written and visual content from within chat, all in one place.
Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer, in a blog post, mentions, "We're excited to announce we are bringing Bing Image Creator, new AI-powered visual Stories and updated Knowledge Cards to the new Bing and Edge preview. Powered by an advanced version of the DALL∙E model from our partners at OpenAI, Bing Image Creator allows you to create an image simply by using your own words to describe the picture you want to see. Now you can generate both written and visual content in one place, from within the chat."
Also, Microsoft will add the Bing Image Creator to its Edge browser, which is a contender to Google Chrome. There will be a new icon in the Edge sidebar that enables users to create images in the text entry prompt. This image creator will only be available in Bing's creative mode, according to Microsoft, which plans to optimise how it works in multi-turn chats. "We will initially only include Image Creator in the creative mode of Bing chat, and our intention is to make it available in a balanced and precise mode over time," says Mehdi.
Users of Bing preview can access the image creator using either Microsoft Edge or the usual chatbot prompt. Users can utilise the Bing Image Creator alternatively at bing.com/create to generate English text-to-image if they are still not a part of the new Bing preview. Microsoft stated that it would gradually add more language support.
Microsoft is making its Stories and Knowledge Cards 2.0 capabilities of Bing available to all users in addition to this new image creator. While Knowledge Cards emphasise essential information, Stories try to give users a more interesting method to search and interact with content, along with providing images and short videos. AI-powered Knowledge Cards 2.0 is an infographic-inspired experience that quickly provides fun facts and important information.
