Those days were gone when men kept their skin simple, and women were only known for caring for their skin. Nowadays, men are very conscious of their skin. To make their skin look younger, they are now undergoing various routine steps. They even prefer to take consultations with dermatologists.
Though generally, men's skin is thicker as compared to women's skin. But there is not too much difference between the skin of men and women. So the basic skin care plan remains the same.
Before going to start skincare, it is important to understand and identify your skin type :
Sensitive skin- such skin may react or burn after using any product.
Normal skin- such skin is generally clear and non-sensitive.
Dry skin- such skin looks dull, rough, flaky, and itchy.
Oily skin- such type of skin looks shiny and greasy.
Combination skin- such type of skin has both dry and oily skin characteristics. It means in some areas, the skin is dry, and in others, the skin is oily.
Proper understanding and knowledge about your skin type help you to take proper skin care and detect the right product required for you.
Here are a few easy and simple skin care tips for men to look younger, glowing, and have healthier skin.
Follow CTM
CTM (cleansing, toning, and moisturising) is essential on a daily basis. Like women, this step is important for men also. On a daily basis, the face is most exposed to pollution, smoke, and other pollutants which damage the skin. So every day, they need to wash their face with a good face wash two times.
Cleansing removes dirt, dead skin, comedones, blackhead, and acne. After cleansing, use toner. You can also use simple rose water as a toner. Then use moisturiser to moisturise your skin. Moisturiser helps to repair skin cracks and also prevents skin dullness, dryness, and cracks.
Watch your shaving technique
Shave regularly to keep your face clean. But you need to be very cautious while choosing blades to shave. Multi-blade razors help to shave well too closely to your skin. But if you experience razor burns, razor bumps, or ingrown hairs, use single or double-blade razors. Try to always shave in the direction of hair growth.
Apply sunscreen whenever outdoors
UV rays damage our skin. It can lead to tanning, wrinkles, age spots, and even form skin cancer. So before going outdoors, always apply sunscreen on all your exposed areas. Always use a water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
Choose the right skincare products
Always choose skin care products depending on your skin type. If you aren't able to understand which product is right for you, take a consultation with a dermatologist.
Improve healthy food habits
Alcohol, smoking, and fast foods make you look aged before your age. So every day, maintain your diet by taking healthy food and fruits.
Stay hydrated
Take a sufficient amount of water. Water keeps you hydrated by roving toxins from your body.
Don’t rub too hard
After washing up your face, smoothly pat on your skin to dry it. Rubbing too hard can irritate or dry your skin, especially if you have delicate skin.
Check skin regularly
Regular skin check-up is essential. New spots or moles that change their colour, size, or itch or bleed may be early signs of skin cancer. If you find any such suspicious spots, immediately visit a dermatologist.
