Every year, millions of people throughout the world observe Earth Hour to raise a concern about climate change and energy conservation on the last Saturday of March.
People turn off all of the lights and electric appliances in their homes, workplaces, and other locations for one hour as part of the annual "Earth Hour" event. The event encourages people to turn off their lights and spend 60 minutes doing something good for the environment.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) organized the event to encourage people to "Give an Hour for Earth" and express their support for energy conservation and combating climate change.
The 'Earth Hour' event was first launched by the WWF Sydney, Australia, on March 31, 2007, at 7:30 pm as a symbolic lights-out event. Since then, the popularity of the event has grown and become a massive grassroots movement for environmental protection. So every year, it has been observed on the last Saturday of March.
Currently, more than 190 countries and territories participate in the Earth Hour event held annually. Numerous influencers and notable persons have extended their support for the noble awareness program.
Sudarsan Pattnaik, a well-known sand artist and recipient of the Padma Shri award, showed support by making his sand art for Earth Hour India 2023 at Puri sea beach. Through his sand art, Pattnaik requested his supporters to join Earth Hour on March 25 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm by turning off all unnecessary lights.
