Gumraah Trailer Out: Mrunal Thakur And Aditya Roy Kapur Coming With Unique Concept

The trailer of the thriller Gumraah officially launched on Thursday afternoon in a grand event in Mumbai. Onscreen, fresh pairings are always exciting to observe. For the first time, Aditya Roy Kapur plays a double role in the murder mystery, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy. Fans praised the trailer for its unique concept and Aditya’s performance in the double role.

Directed by Vardhan Ketkar, Gumraah is produced by Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.

The trailer starts with a man in a yellow raincoat murdering someone with an ice pick. A police officer, Mrunal Thakur, then appears and concludes that it is a “well-planned murder.” After that, Aditya Roy Kapur smacks some butt against goons and romances a girl with equal ease. However, the cops notice he is captured on CCTV at the murder scene. The cops pick him up, and a senior police officer Ronit Roy declares, “case closed.”

The twist happens when some other cops detain another person, a second Aditya. It is unclear which of them is the murderer, and the cops are now trying to find out who is the real murderer.

The film is based on finding who is the liar and who is telling the truth. Mrunal Thakur took to Instagram and shared the trailer of the film:

It is said that the suspense drama is inspired by true events. One is well-mannered and dignified, while the other is a thug with a short temper. Most of the scenes in the film revolve around the police interrogating the two suspects as they try to solve the brutal murder of a young man.

Vardhan Ketkar, the film’s director, has previously worked as an assistant on the films Brothers (2015), Kapoor & Sons (2016), and Mubarakan. (2017). Thadam, a 2019 Tamil blockbuster starring Arun Vijay and Vidya Pradeep, is being remade in Hindi. On April 7, 2023, the drama will be released to theaters.

Aditya recently appeared with Anil Kapoor in the Hindi version of the BBC television series The Night Manager. He portrayed an ex-soldier who works as a hotel employee and gets dragged into a mission to take out an infamous arms dealer. Mrunal last appeared with Dulquer Salmaan in the Telugu blockbuster movie Sita Raman (2022). She also appeared last month in a special appearance in  Selfiee, which starred Akshay Kumar.
