Around 821,000 new members joined the ESIC-run social security scheme in March 2020, towards 1.18 million in the earlier month, based on payroll data of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
The information was a part of a report launched by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Friday. The report stated gross enrolments of recent subscribers with ESIC have been 14.9 million throughout 2018-19. During the interval September 2017 to March 2020, around 38.three million new subscribers joined the ESIC scheme.
The NSO report relies on the payroll data of recent subscribers of varied social security schemes run by ESIC, retirement fund physique EPFO and pension fund regulator PFRDA.
