Jajpur: As many as 50 college students of two authorities faculties in Odisha’s Jajpur have been taken unwell after consuming mid-day meal on Saturday, officers stated.
The first incident occurred at Sibantpur Upper Primary School beneath Haridaspur panchayat of Dharmasala block, they stated.
The meal was served at about 10 am within the faculty and about 40 college students have been vomiting, feeling nauseous and complaining of abdomen ache after consuming it, an official stated.
They have been instantly rushed to the close by Dharmasala neighborhood well being centre (CHC) and handled.
According to a preliminary enquiry, a useless lizard was present in dalma (pulses cooked with greens), served to the scholars within the mid-day meal, Dharmasala block schooling officer Prafulla Kumar Behera stated.
In one other incident, 10 college students of Bamphu Mangarajpur Nodal School have been rushed to the identical CHC with comparable complaints, the official stated.
Rotten eggs have been allegedly served to the scholars within the mid-day meal, he stated.
Behera stated all the scholars have been discharged from the heath centre after preliminary therapies.
Samples of meals, served to the scholars, have been collected and despatched to a laboratory for checks, he stated, including that the matter is “under investigation and appropriate action would be taken, if anyone is found guilty”.
